Marathon Makeover Hosts Half Marathon

Marathon Makeover will direct the Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon on June 28, 2008, with a race start time at 6:00 a.m. Marathon Makeover is Mississippi's premiere marathon training team, presently training over 450 runners and walkers to finish a marathon.

The Marathon Makeover training season started on January 26th with participants walking one mile and, by June 28th, they will be ready to tackle a half marathon. In past years, this special milestone of marathon training was held as a private race for MM participants, but this year will be open to the public.

Ridgeland Alderman and Marathon Makeover participant, Chuck Gautier, lobbied us to hold the race in Ridgeland, MS, and open it up to the public. With several productive meetings with Stewart Speed and Buster Bailey of the H.C. Bailey Companies, the Renaissance at Colony Park jumped on board to provide the race venue.

Additionally, the city of Ridgeland - from Mayor Gene McGee, to Police Chief Jimmy Houston, to Recreation and Parks Director Chris Chance, and Jim Petersen at Ridgeland Tourism Commission - have opened their arms wide to welcome Marathon Makeover and the Renaissance at Colony Park Half Marathon. It is no wonder that Money Magazine listed Ridgeland on the "100 Best Places to Live" list.

Stay tuned for more race information - it will be a blast!
